Pencil #3

My latest attempt with pencil =D I’m pretty happy with it ’cause it’s an exponential improvement from last time [link] – which means I can definitely improve :) I got heavily inspired by many self taught artists in deviantart. Their works are just too inspiring, just like [him]. And this quote from a movie keeps ringing in my head… always – “If one man can do, another can do” =D I forgot which movie though =(

So anyway, I drew the picture from [this] reference image. It’s a super amazing picture by Dmitry Ageev =) His gallery of photographs is just awesome!! This is my take on his photograph and it doesn’t look like the image at all =P

I don’t know how I got it wrong, but her neck seems broken…?? don’t you think??? I mean it’s too tilted to the side =(…

This is some WIP’s of the picture, I made many many many changes from the start till the very end. I was just not satisfied with the result. Still want to do many more changes, but I guess if I do more it’ll ruin the paper and the drawing.

What did I learn from drawing this portrait?

  1. Need to practice drawing human hair
  2. Need to practice drawing fabric
  3. I learned which pencils to use o.O (seriously… it was a revelation)
  4. I understood that there are better and proper ways to start sketching than blackening everything out! =(
*sigh*

Well, that’s all for now =)

I’LL BE BACK! =P lol… Have a great time guys!!! =)

Experiment #4

The past week had been very sad =( I was too demotivated/de-energized/de-moralized(poor me). Part of it had to do with unavailability of good quality manga… online! – why?? because we have no means of buying anything manga/anime in India. The only other way is to IMPORT volumes o.O Blahh… I’m not that rich! Anyway, I follow mangastream and it stopped releasing Naruto/Bleach/One Piece and the rest(I don’t care) =( mangastream was the best. *sigh*

I got over mangastream. Now it’s cool. I’ve settled for low quality scans and dumb translations instead of nothing at all (I’m sulking – but i genuinely appreciate their effort <3).

Today’s watercolor experiment was all about celebrating anime and manga =) The very first anime that I’ve watched was CardCaptor Sakura. This painting is something to remember about the good ol’ day’s(when everything was free and anime’s actually aired on TV over here). =)

I used to be so in love with this series back then, I made my own set of clow cards. =D I was ccaaraaaazyy!!! =P

Unlike my previous experiments, I’m pretty happy with this o.O maybe it’s because Kero-chan is too cute anyway you draw??

This is a self-portrait doodle =P made it while I got bored with color theory(it’s fascinating). Pretty cool huh??? hehee… =D

And finally, an unfinished digital experiment(using MyPaint). Tried drawing sakura blossoms here o.O ahem!! It somewhat resembles the flower right???? It’s not finished yet, so there IS lots of room for improvement =D

Anyway I gotta go now. It’s 5 o’clock in the morning over here and I’ve not slept yet. My ma’s gonna wake up in an hour o.O I better get some sleep. Have a great time you guys!!

Ciao!

The Lag

I’ve been lagging a bit on the ‘creative adventures’ part of my story. I haven’t done anything worthwhile lately – no sketches, no paintings, no photographs… no nothing. Most of my time now is spent on studying – proportions, perspective, gestures, lines, color(fascinating) and a bit of animation. I feel like a fool for not taking it all up earlier =( but blaaah… I started finally, and that’s what matters! =D

I’ve given my application to NTU, Singapore for MS in Digital Media Tech. Chances are pretty low.  But I think I should remain optimistic till I get rejected ;) I joined a local animation academy here, they’re pretty good so I guess I’ll get better at everything soon(I hope). =)

So that’s it for now.

Bahhhh!! What a SADDD POST!!

Sumimasen =(

Experiment #2

Today I thought of experimenting with Zakhrafa or Arabesque as it is popularly known, and Watercolor =D

Well, it started out good….

…but I kinda goofed it up!! It was supposed to be a floral design o.O but it ended up looking like this(below) with a nerve ending at the center =D lol!! In the draft, all the squares had a flower in it.  My exceptional expertise with watercolor magically transformed all the flowers into giant black balls! T.T *sigh*

But I think it’s not completely useless. =) Maybe I should do some intricate design thingy in the black areas… hmmm… let’s see…

PS: It looks better in real!! =)

Experiment #1

So, this is one of my experiments with watercolor o.O It was not intended to come out this way *sigh* I started with the eye, which came out good but then I lost it. With my incredible attention span of 10s I completely lost what I wanted to draw in the first place :s Strangely ‘The Joker’ crept into my mind. And I was not thinking about him at all… strange!! Well, anyway it ended up like this.

But I love the eye :D The only thing I’m good at drawing blindfolded is the eye and the best thing about it is, I can draw ONLY the left eye properly, the right eye never matches…. T.T And bad nose job as usual (ok! not enough practice on the head… I know I know… *sigh*) The lips looked better before I decided to overdo it :D hehe… blaaaahhh!!!

Heeheee…. I love the eye :D :D I’m so excited because it’s the first time I’m painting the eye and I didn’t mess it up even though the painting is pretty messed up ;)

Anyway, I’m practicing… :)

PS: I just remembered, I was thinking about Heath Ledger while painting… :(
