Practice #1

So, we were asked us to draw character turnarounds of popular characters(they never meant anime) for practice. I don’t know why but I love anime =D So when I was asked to draw, nothing else came to my mind except a bunch of my favorite characters. Well, I can’t say that Naruto is my favorite character of all time but then he’s the one who inspires me the most =D and I couldn’t find quality model sheets for the many other characters I love =( damn they’re hard to find. I really wanted some good sheets for characters from Inuyasha, Neon Genesis, Blood+, Witchblade, Ao no Exorcist etc. and from so many moooovieees too… *sigh*

Anyway, here you go… Naruto turnaround =D well, not exactly the proper one-pose turnaround… but this is what I found =) maybe I’ll try one on my own later.

Ahh… Sasukeeee =D SASUKEEE!!! =D (Sasuke fan-girl o_O)

I’m really happy with this one. Really! I never thought a doodle like whatever-it-was would turn out like this =)

The lil’ Blue birdie perched on a tree ;) awwww… =P (I’m getting excited so please don’t mind =P) It’s drawn on Mypaint, an open-source alternative to the big boys, on Ubuntu =)

Ahhh… feeling very inspired. Might cook up something today =) Till then…

PS: I know the leg is weird. There… I’ve just made it too obvious! =P my work here is done!! =P

Before I start to write anything, I just gotta say this… I love you guys! =D Thanks for reading, liking, commenting and spending a little of your precious time on my blog =) It means a lot. It’s very encouraging and it inspires me to look forward and take those huge strides towards wherever I’m going. Thank you all =)

I’ve received two awards from two very wonderful people. One is the long overdue ‘Versatile Blogger Award‘ given by Kerry. He awarded me this one right on new year’s eve =) was very excited then that I could start the new year on a very happy note. But then, I got lazy and blahh! =( I’m very sorry that I kept it for so long Kerry. Well anyway, you see, Kerry is an amazing photographer… I just can’t express how amazing his photographs are. You just gotta see it to believe it =) so here you go… this is Kerry’s Blog =)

And the next one is the ‘Very Inspiring Blogger Award‘ by Lazaro. This one award is very encouraging. I never thought my blog was even remotely inspiring?? Is it?? I have no idea. But then, when I received this award I just realized how appreciative and encouraging people can be =) And Lazaro, is one of those people. Very inspiring and encouraging… always. I really do appreciate it. Really. =) Lazaro is also a photographer with an eye for the extraordinary. Well, like I  said before… you just gotta see it to believe it =) So here is Lazaro’s blog.

Random Sketches

Ah… I’m feeling a bit depressed today. My coursemates passed out from the Army Academy last  Saturday. I forgot about all that stuff and was back to being almost normal but ‘facebook’ was really kind in reminding me by putting up their pretty pictures in my newsfeed that they’ve all become real heroes and I’m the only one stuck and sitting at home researching on ways not to become a complete looser. It was not easy to forget. It was never easy… I just covered it up with my drawings.

But blaaahh… things don’t happen the way we want it to happen anyways right?? ;)

Anyway, these are some sketches from the last week =)

Quick Update

I’m a bit busy these days. I’ve been studying very hard but I have very little of my sketches to post. I’ve started going to that animation studio I was talking about(?)… had my first class today =) Was awesome except my eyes pained terribly throughout. Hope they get better tomorrow.

I hope something good comes out of all this.

Ah! Then there is my university application… I wonder when they’ll publish the results * fingers crossed*

Anyway, I’ll post something interesting soon =) bye for now.

Pencil #3

My latest attempt with pencil =D I’m pretty happy with it ’cause it’s an exponential improvement from last time [link] – which means I can definitely improve :) I got heavily inspired by many self taught artists in deviantart. Their works are just too inspiring, just like [him]. And this quote from a movie keeps ringing in my head… always – “If one man can do, another can do” =D I forgot which movie though =(

So anyway, I drew the picture from [this] reference image. It’s a super amazing picture by Dmitry Ageev =) His gallery of photographs is just awesome!! This is my take on his photograph and it doesn’t look like the image at all =P

I don’t know how I got it wrong, but her neck seems broken…?? don’t you think??? I mean it’s too tilted to the side =(…

This is some WIP’s of the picture, I made many many many changes from the start till the very end. I was just not satisfied with the result. Still want to do many more changes, but I guess if I do more it’ll ruin the paper and the drawing.

What did I learn from drawing this portrait?

  1. Need to practice drawing human hair
  2. Need to practice drawing fabric
  3. I learned which pencils to use o.O (seriously… it was a revelation)
  4. I understood that there are better and proper ways to start sketching than blackening everything out! =(
*sigh*
