Doodle #2

I’m learning to doodle. Seriously. I’m really incapable of doodling, which I learned is a very helpful habit. All my so called doodles are just a pile of random lines which never make any sense o.O So I thought of letting my mind roam free and let my hand take over instead of thinking too much. This is the result! =)

From the Archives

Today’s post is a no blah-blah post =D These are some pictures which I found in my HD. I thought they got erased and lost forever. =) I had the habit of getting irritated and deleting my pictures thinking they’re not good enough o.O but then I happened to read some really inspirational biographies which changed my mind =) Anyway, I’m glad I still have some of them =)

My favourite place – the beach! =D This was one of the best days there, it was sunny but it was rainy o.O (taken using an extremely old canon ixus).

Random monsoon sighting ;)

My cousin bro Unni(oun-nee) =)

It’s me it’s me!! =P

The luckiest dog ever =( my parents love her more =( *sniff* me jelly ;)

Clicked on an 8 hour power-cut day during the monsoons. Was not that bad. *lies*

@.@ the only plant which cares to bloom in my garden!

Watashi no kasa!! =D

2012

The beginning of yet another year of hope.

Ahh… I just wanted to see beyond the horizons of those 365 stressful days and finally being on the right side of the new year brings waves of relief. Lots of thing to look forward to this year and I’m very excited(not) about them all. Actually, this will be my deciding year *horror* as to what I’ll become in the near future. *not looking excited at all*

Anyway, this is how I started my year. I got a new phone. FINALLY! It’s one of the cheapest android phones around – LG Optimus Net. One major flaw – bad camera(app). I don’t know how I managed to overlook the specs. I was very disappointed when I found out that the phone had a 3mp cam and the pre-loaded camera app made it look worse. Dumb app, it doesn’t auto-focus and somehow manages to crash :o (I have no idea why). But I was saved by an app from the store. It seems to work just fine and do more than just click pictures. Anyway, I’m happy =) and I love it… =D

Here are some of my first shots, some heavily edited =P

My very first shot =) was not that careful while taking this because of the excitement of experimentation ;) My garden is always my first testing ground =)

I love this picture. Some new plants that my mom planted, growing healthy =)

And then, I moved on to my next test subject, my sweet doggie. But even she got bored and tired after posing for me so much =( Look at her… grrr….

So, when I was out of things to click, I took out my bike. Got this 10 years ago for my b’day. Still as good as new =)  Since I got it out I thought of going out to the beach, approx 2km away.

I was not in a hurry so I thought of taking the long way there – the highway way. It was very eerily lonely. It’s a highway leading to the beach… there are supposed to be speeding vehicles, happy bikers and a swarm of pedestrians, but there were none… o.O was I scared??? naaaaah =D (ok, a bit maybe).

When I finally reached there after overcoming a strong urge to go back home, they said NO PARKING! =( They allowed to park anything there a month ago x( I mean, it’s not a Lamborghini that I’m parking o.O but anyway, follow the rules and stay out of trouble ;)

It was almost dusk when I started walking in the beach. The light was fading fast and the entire beach was going dark, but I found some interesting patterns in the sand =) It was the only piece of land not stepped on at that moment in the entire beach.

When I finally reached the sea, there were already a billion people waiting there to get soaked.

I secretly wished I was the only person there and got to enjoy the sea all for myself. *sigh* I don’t like being selfish though =) but I don’t like just too many people either. Anyway, I had a great time and that’s what matters =)

I hope you had a great New Year’s day too =)

I wish you all a very happy journey around the sun yet again, filled with many seasons of emotions, adventures and good fun =) Happy New Year!!! =)

A Mad Christmas

I had a very sober Christmas. I tried hard to be very merry and happy… but blah somehow I think being sad is emotionally more fulfilling than being happy?! umm… weird right? o.O

Well, as a Christmas present to myself I thought I’d sketch Kurt Cobain =D o.O Out of the blue, I felt very sad for Kurt =( Well, I was on a heavy dose of music and strummed for the first time in about a year, so…

Anyway, drawing Kurt was a disaster =( (but i vow to improve).

What I learned/realized from drawing Kurt Cobain:

  1. Have to do necessary homework before committing to draw something so complex =( I never bothered to look up on ‘how to draw the human hair’. I ended up giving Kurt anime styled hair o.O and while drawing him I thought he looked like Urahara Kisuke from Bleach, which might’ve influenced the hair.
  2. Not enough practice on lines and figure drawing =(
  3. Bad nose job. When I first gave Kurt an outline, his nose looked alright. But after finishing the sketch, the nose became just too long and his face got compressed and he looks constipated =( More practice!
  4. I used CHARCOAL!(along with pencil). Never in my life I’ve tried charcoal for sketching, and I thought of starting that by sketching Cobain?? o.O How dumb can I be??

Anyway, the outcome was very unexpected. I’m glad it turned out this way after seeing what it looked like in the beginning =P. Completely sad and unorganized!

Anyway, I vowed to improve, right? That’s a promise =)

PS: I just noticed that I haven’t shaded the collar o.O I’m gonna leave it like that as a symbol of my impatience =( grr… I’m definitely gonna improve!

A Sneak Peak into the Past

Not so long ago, when I was still in college and when owning an SLR(or a small digi-cam) was a distant dream, I still clicked and my partner in crime was my phone =D one of the many blessings of pocket technology =) And those were the times when I really experienced the beauty of my surroundings =) I had freedom to move around and there was nobody to impose restrictions on me and what I eat. It was bliss!! I used to eat out of roadside shops(sorry no photos, I was too interested in eating what they had to offer – mostly freshly made dosa‘s with whatever curry). Street food kept me alive through bad mess food days… those were the times =)

I’m a native of the state of Kerala(India). The place where my college is situated is an absolute beauty. It is a very peaceful place and most of the times you can breathe pure fresh air and smell earth =) My weekly routine during college was like this – Monday through Friday I had classes and I get the weekends off. I was in the college hostel so I never missed a chance to go home. So I went home during the weekends and returned to college early Monday morning the following week.

This picture was taken one such morning at the bus station. It looks deserted ’cause nobody was there so early. If I had stayed there for a few hours, I could’ve shown you this place transforming into a beehive =P The mornings are peaceful and beautiful =) a rare sight.

Now, to get to my college from the bus station I had to take another bus. The picture below shows the inside of that bus =) This bus like many others, is the backbone of Kerala’s transportation. It’s so awesome, it even has a fan-page =P (this is one of the reasons why… hehe)

After a 15mins bumpy ride in this awesome bus (It’s awesome when nobody is there, seriously, and I’m not being sarcastic =D) I reach this beautiful place. My college is near a river, and the picture shows a small boat jetty with Chinese fish nets near it.

These are views from the top of the(then new) footbridge. Isn’t it a beautiful misty morning?? =) You need to pay just 2 rupees to cross the river in the boat shown. There will be 10 other people along with you, but still, very cheap! I always wonder how they live with such meager earnings, and since this bridge came along and ’cause everybody is in a hurry, nobody takes those boats anymore =( *sigh*

And this is the picture most of you see in Kerala Tourism promo’s(if you have ever seen one) – a houseboat! =D We see these boats all day long so it’s not much of an awe, but still, it’s beautiful =) and it’s an awesome experience being in one =)

This was just the beginning of a day. And since mobile phones were banned in our college, I had to put it in stealth mode and keep it safe inside my bag =D

So that’s all for now, thought of sharing some moments while going through some old pictures =) have a great day or night ;)

It’s about 2am here… I’m a nocturnal owl o.O anyway, ciao!! I should get some sleep.
